National Energy Emergency

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit upheld a decision to dismiss the case Lighthiser et al. v. Donald J. Trump et al. Plaintiffs had challenged executive orders aimed at promoting energy policies, including a national energy emergency declaration and efforts to revive the clean coal industry.

Trump's energy initiatives aim to reduce U.S. reliance on Middle Eastern oil through increased domestic production and imports from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela. The U.S. produces 13.6 million barrels of crude daily and imports 18 million, nearing energy independence as shale drilling efficiency improves and new reserves are tapped.
