An 18-month-old baby in New York died after choking on a popcorn kernel while his mother was drinking in another room. Olivia Bithorn, the mother, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors allege she left the children unattended with unpopped popcorn and has a history of alcohol-related incidents.

Lawrence Nadien, a Nevada man, is accused of stealing over $200,000 in Social Security benefits intended for his deceased wife. He faces a grand larceny charge after being arrested in Las Vegas in May 2026.
