Prominent Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya appeared via video link at Israel's Supreme Court on Wednesday while in solitary confinement and restrained, as his lawyer stated the court refused to remove his shackles. This is his first public appearance since a video was posted in late February last year.

Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, abducted from Gaza in late December 2024, has been transferred to solitary confinement in Israeli custody and faces medical neglect, beatings, and shackling despite chronic health issues. His lawyer, Nasser Odeh, reported harsh detention conditions and limited communication due to surveillance and fear of retaliation.
