Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, U.S. Park Police, and federal law enforcement conducted a river search after three individuals fled a commercial vehicle stop on Clara Barton Parkway. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was identified as the arresting agency, while Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich emphasized the county's limited ability to intervene in ICE operations.

A lightning strike caused a house fire in Gaithersburg, Maryland, resulting in an estimated $850,000 in damage and displacing a family of five. The fire, which occurred in the 9200 block of Warfield Road, was detected by the family around 7 a.m. after a lightning strike between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday, leading to the roof being ablaze.

Robert Simms, a 36-year-old Rockville man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after setting a fire in an occupied Montgomery Village apartment in 2025, trapping four people inside. He pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and three counts of reckless endangerment, with evidence including gasoline found at the scene and surveillance footage showing him carrying a red gasoline container.

Three workers were seriously injured in an electrical incident near the Medical Center Metro station, involving a possible electrical explosion at a confined electrical shaft. Paramedics treated the victims for electrical burns, and Metro temporarily halted service between Medical Center and Bethesda for investigation.
