- Stomach parasite outbreak prompts health warning in Mecklenburg County
Mecklenburg County health officials are warning residents about a rise in cyclosporiasis cases, an intestinal parasite causing diarrhea and fatigue. Over 200 cases have been reported in North Carolina since May 1st, with 18 in Mecklenburg County. The FDA is investigating the cause, which is suspected to involve contaminated food or water sources.
