A licensed practical nurse, Maniya Miller, was arraigned on charges alleging she stole controlled substances from a nursing home patient and falsified medical records to cover up the theft. She faces three felony charges: larceny in a building, falsifying medical records, and illegal possession of a controlled substance. The case is being handled by the Michigan Attorney General’s Health Care Fraud Division.

Michigan agencies seized 17,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and explosives, including 12,000 pounds of overloaded devices falsely labeled as consumer fireworks and 5,000 pounds of federally regulated professional-grade fireworks. The multi-agency bust involved the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Detroit Police Department Bomb Squad, Garden City Police Department, and Garden City Fire Department, warning of risks like fires and explosions from improper use.

A 71-year-old patient was found dead at the DaVita Dialysis Center in Novi, prompting an investigation. Four patients were hospitalized, including one in ICU, after treatment at the center, which was closed as a precaution. No evidence of foul play or criminal conduct was identified.
