Mexico has formally requested U.S. state attorneys general to investigate migrant deaths in ICE custody following the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by ICE agents in Houston. The Mexican government also sent letters to U.S. detention centers where Mexican migrants died, demanding immediate cease of harmful practices and considering civil lawsuits against operating companies.

The request follows 17 Mexican migrant deaths during U.S. immigration enforcement since President Trump's second term, with demands for detention centers to improve conditions and avoid human rights violations.

Mexico has deployed 250 military personnel, two Foreign Ministry representatives, and 18 search-and-rescue dogs to Venezuela following twin earthquakes that killed at least 589 people. President Claudia Sheinbaum announced plans to discuss additional support with Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodríguez.
