- After voucher data leak, Missouri treasurer’s office pointed at its contractor
Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek's office faced criticism after student voucher data was exposed on its website for nearly a year. The office initially blamed software provider ClassWallet for the leak, which included names, parent emails, and scholarship details, but emails suggest the data may have passed through an employee's computer before publication. ClassWallet, a major edtech contractor for voucher programs, disputed the blame.
- Herzog didn’t join defense of Vivek Malek’s oversight of Missouri voucher program
The Herzog Foundation, a major administrator of Missouri's MOScholars voucher program, did not support a last-minute effort by State Treasurer Vivek Malek to retain oversight of the program. Six of seven scholarship-granting organizations signed a letter opposing the transfer of MOScholars to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, but Herzog declined to participate despite its significant influence in the program.
