California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a new program called 'Golden State Start' which will provide 400 free diapers to families with newborn babies, in an effort to ease the high cost of raising a child. The program is set to launch this summer and will be offered at about 65 to 75 hospitals that handle about a quarter of births in the state. The initiative is part of Newsom's broader push to tackle affordability.
