Thunderstorms are moving through Metro Detroit on Tuesday, July 21, with severe thunderstorm warnings issued for Lapeer and Sanilac Counties until 12:45 p.m. Most other counties in Southeast Michigan have no active weather alerts.

Michigan's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will auction 97 state-owned properties across 12 counties from August 4–28. The parcels, designated as surplus due to limited public benefits, will fund the acquisition of more usable public lands. Auctions will occur county-by-county, with interactive bidding and absentee bids allowed.

Thursday’s thunderstorms in Southeast Michigan produced golf ball-sized hail in Capac and Emmett, with Metro Detroit largely avoiding severe weather. A cooler, quieter weekend is expected before a heat wave next week, with temperatures potentially exceeding 90°F and heat index values above 100°F, raising concerns for vulnerable populations.

Bottom Creek, a new brewery, restaurant, market, and nature destination, is opening in North Branch, Lapeer County, on 500 acres of land originally purchased by the owners' grandfather. The family aims to create a unique outdoor experience with beer, food, and activities, opening July 11 with plans to operate Wednesday through Sunday.
