    Former Qatari energy minister Abdullah Al Attiyah dies

    Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Qatar's former energy minister and key architect of its LNG industry, died in London. He played a central role in transforming Qatar into a wealthy nation through the development of the North Field gas resource and maintained close ties with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, the emir who ousted his father in 1995.
