L.A. County's plan to close Men’s Central Jail has been delayed beyond 2031 after multiple setbacks since 2020. Supervisor Janice Hahn and others emphasized the jail's inhumane conditions, including poor hygiene, medical neglect, and recent deaths, as reasons for closure.

Seven suspects have been arrested in connection to a string of recent home burglaries across Los Angeles County. The arrests were made as part of a multi-agency effort. Some of the suspects are believed to be part of a sophisticated crime ring.

A suspect wanted for attempted murder on a peace officer is in custody after a 9-hour standoff in Beverly Hills. The situation ended with the suspect in custody and a female hostage rescued. The investigation began around 3 a.m. Sunday when LASD deputies contacted the suspect.
