- Subway staffing: State Senate passes transit union-backed bill to make two-person crews permanent
The New York State Senate passed a bill requiring two-person subway crews on lines currently using them, backed by transit unions. The bill now awaits Assembly approval and Governor Kathy Hochul's signature after she rejected a similar measure last year due to cost concerns. The MTA and some advocacy groups continue to oppose the legislation.
