- Hungary’s parliament votes to oust Orbán-appointed president
Hungary’s parliament passed a constitutional amendment to remove President Tamás Sulyok and Constitutional Court president Péter Polt, part of Prime Minister Péter Magyar’s efforts to reverse policies of the former Fidesz-led government. The amendment requires Sulyok to sign it within five days or face impeachment, introduces a 12-year term limit for lawmakers, and establishes a corruption prosecution office. Sulyok may challenge the law at the Constitutional Court, which he claims could spark a crisis.
