2,200-year-old alcohol found sealed inside ancient tomb — and there's nearly a gallon of it

Researchers in China discovered a large bottle containing an alcoholic drink sealed within a Qin tomb at Shanjiabao cemetery, dating back over 2,200 years to the Warring States period. The vessel contained approximately 3.74 liters of preserved liquid, which was determined through specialized analysis to be a cereal-based beverage, primarily brewed from broomcorn millet. This exceptionally large volume and high state of preservation makes it an extremely rare archaeological discovery.
