Nine EU countries urge EU Sports Commissioner Glenn Micallef to cut funding to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after it lifted restrictions on the Russian Olympic Committee. The ministers argue that Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine undermines efforts to normalize its participation in international sports, with Sweden's Jakob Forssmed stating the EU cannot support organizations inconsistent with its values. The letter also calls for withdrawing EU funding from World Aquatics and the International Gymnastics Federation, which have also lifted bans on Russian athletes.
