- Crypto ‘Godfather' pleads guilty in violent bitcoin kidnapping
Adam Iza, a 25-year-old California cryptocurrency businessman known as 'The Godfather,' pleaded guilty to conspiracy in a violent August 2024 Connecticut kidnapping and attempted bitcoin robbery. He coordinated with others via encrypted messaging apps to steal bitcoin linked to a $245 million theft, leading to a carjacking and kidnapping of two individuals in Danbury. Six other suspects have also pleaded guilty.
