Lack of defibrillators could put 16m at risk of death by cardiac arrest in England and Wales

Over 16 million people in England and Wales risk dying from cardiac arrest due to living more than 1km round trip from 24/7 accessible defibrillators, according to Heart Restart campaign research. The study found 35 million people, over half the population, lack access within the recommended 3-5 minute brisk walk, with survival rates below 10% for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.
