A South Carolina judge ruled that inmate John Richard Wood cannot be executed due to a mental illness that makes him believe he is immortal. Wood was convicted of killing a state trooper in 2000 and has been on death row for over 25 years. The ruling will be reviewed by the state Supreme Court.
