Bloomberg's investigation revealed that Phoebe Gates and cofounder Sophia Kianni knew their AI shopping extension, Phia, was secretly taking credit for sales it did not generate. The practice involved a method called "cookie stuffing," where Phia hijacked checkout pages to swap out legitimate referral codes for its own until Bloomberg tested more than 50 sites. Phia stated that the feature is eliminated and transactions are being reversed.
