Fishhook Fire

Increased fire activity in Custer County led to reinstated mandatory evacuation orders. Fire crews are patrolling the western edge of the Aspen Acres fire amid hot, dry conditions. Updates are provided for multiple fires including Hartman Hill, Gold Mountain, Ferris, Willow, Fishhook, and Elk.

The Aspen Acres fire has surpassed 100,000 acres, with crews increasing containment to over 60%. Rain fell across parts of the state on Friday, yielding mixed results for the Gold Mountain, Ferris, Willow, Fishhook, and Elk fires.

The Aspen Acres fire in southern Colorado has exceeded 99,820 acres and breached a containment line due to hot, dry conditions. Additional updates are provided for the Gold Mountain, Willow, Ferris, Fishhook, Green Ridge, and Elk fires.

The Green Ridge Fire is 45% contained near Stagecoach Reservoir, while the Fishhook Fire, burning near Rabbit Ears Pass, has grown to 229 acres with 0% containment. Pre-evacuations and road closures are in effect, though no homes are threatened by the Fishhook Fire. An evacuation center operates at SOROCO High School.

The Fishhook Fire and Green Ridge Fire near Steamboat Springs in Routt County are burning, with Fishhook Fire having burned 94 acres and Green Ridge Fire affecting 44 acres. Evacuations are in place for Green Ridge Fire, and firefighting resources including helicopters and an incident management team are deployed. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis declared a disaster emergency for the Green Ridge Fire, which threatens nearly 480 structures.

A wildfire named the Fishhook Fire is burning on Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, covering approximately 8 acres. No evacuation orders have been issued, but campers and hikers are urged to prepare. The U.S. Forest Service is managing the blaze, with no reported injuries or structural damage.
