Finance Act, 2026

The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance announced a nationwide wheel-jam strike starting Aug 8, citing a financial crisis caused by rising diesel prices and taxes. Transporters demand reduced diesel taxes, lower withholding tax on cargo, and revisions to the Finance Act 2026 to prevent vehicle confiscation for non-duty-paid goods, warning of supply chain disruptions if their demands are unmet.

The Revenue Bar Association is challenging the constitutional validity of provisions in the Finance Act, 2026. The 2026 law introduced new provisions to the Income Tax Act, 1961 with retrospective effect dating back to June 1, 2007.
