The Falkland Islands Government has urged Canada to support the Islanders' right to self-determination at the Organization of American States (OAS) assembly in Panama. Two members of the archipelago's Legislative Assembly recently visited Ottawa to seek backing from officials and lawmakers.

The Falkland Islands Government has confirmed a two-week public consultation on salmon-farming starting 27 July 2026. Events will include public meetings in Stanley and Goose Green, as well as drop-in sessions throughout the period.

The Falkland Islands Government has declared Monday 15th June 2026 a Public Holiday in lieu of Liberation Day, which falls on Sunday 14th June. All Government Departments, except those providing essential services, will be closed.
