Dunedin hotels are booking out two years in advance for a total solar eclipse on 22 July 2028, the first in southern New Zealand in over 850 years. The eclipse will cast a 100km-wide shadow across regions including Queenstown and Dunedin, causing daytime darkness for 2 minutes and 51 seconds.
