Drone production

Ukraine has received €3.9 billion from the EU as the first defense payment under the Ukraine Support Loan program. The funds will strengthen Ukraine's defense industry, expand drone production, and support urgent military procurement. This payment is part of a broader €90 billion EU support package for 2026-27, with up to €45 billion expected to be available to Ukraine this year.

The EU revised the first disbursement of its €90 billion loan for Ukraine, reallocating €5.9 billion from drone production to €3.2 billion in budget support due to technical monitoring requirements. A separate defense funding package for drones, ammunition, and air defense is anticipated soon.

General Chereshnya, a Ukrainian defense technology company producing tens of thousands of drones monthly, reported that one of its production sites was damaged in a Russian attack. The company confirmed no casualties and plans to restore facilities while maintaining production amid Ukraine's efforts to expand drone production to counter ongoing Russian drone strikes.

Moscow has labeled Canada a 'warmonger' due to a drone-production deal between Canada and Ukraine. Russian authorities have vowed to publish the address of a Canadian company collaborating with Kyiv.

Ukraine's deputy defense minister urged NATO lawmakers to fund Ukrainian arms production, stating Ukraine could produce up to 20 million drones annually with sufficient investment. Kyiv is seeking $60 billion in 2026 support to enhance its battlefield capabilities and long-range strike operations.

Russia's aircraft output has more than doubled, driven by increased production of inexpensive first-person-view (FPV) drones. Bloomberg reported that the aviation sector's growth is partially fueled by mass production of these drones.

Ukraine and Germany have reached a deal where Germany gains access to Ukraine's advanced drone technology in exchange for additional military support. The agreement aims to enhance Ukraine's drone production capabilities and bolster its defense efforts against Russia.
