- Flooding forces evacuations in parts of South Texas as slow-moving storms swamp the region
Flooding in South Texas forced evacuations and high-water rescues as relentless storms dumped up to 16 inches of rain in Uvalde County. Texas Game Wardens rescued over 40 people, a tornado damaged properties in San Antonio, and flood watches remained in effect through Friday. The storms echoed last year’s deadly Texas Hill Country floods.

The USDA is investigating a possible New World screwworm case in southern Texas after detecting the parasite near the U.S.-Mexico border. A sample from a cattle ranch in La Pryor, Texas, was sent for confirmation, following 32 cases in Mexico's Coahuila state, including 19 active cases.
