A 7News viewer in Miami initially reported what appeared to be struggling dolphins, but Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials identified the group as a manatee mating herd. These herds involve one female pursued by multiple males and do not require human intervention, though reporting them helps monitor manatee populations.

Japanese scientists from the University of Osaka used supercomputer simulations to uncover how dolphins generate thrust through tail movements and vortices, revealing that large vortex rings contribute to forward motion while smaller vortices do not. The study was published in the journal Physical Review Fluids.
