Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, announced plans to expand a 'security zone' into Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions in Ukraine. The statement, from Russian state media, follows Putin's declarations on continuing strikes and creating buffer zones.

Russian forces attacked Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine with ballistic missiles and drones, injuring at least six people. The attacks caused fires in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, damaged a secondary school in Chernihiv, and struck gas stations and a sports school in Dnipropetrovsk.

Dnipropetrovsk Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha convened a Defense Council to address evacuation security and anti-drone defenses after more than 40 Russian strikes across five districts, including an FPV drone attack in Nikopol that killed three civilians. The meeting emphasized directing maximum resources toward Ukraine’s military.

Russia launched an overnight attack on Ukraine using over 220 drones and Iskander-M missiles. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of the weapons, but strikes caused damage in nine locations, including Konotop, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa regions, leading to civilian casualties and disruptions in gas, electricity, and water supply systems.

Russian tactical forces conducted overnight and morning drone and artillery strikes across four Ukrainian regions on May 24, wounding 23 civilians. A drone strike in Bohodukhiv injured 12 residents and damaged 15 vehicles, while combined attacks in Nikopol injured seven.

Russia fired over 200 drones at Ukraine, resulting in one death and four injuries in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attacks occurred as a truce expired. Local administration reported the casualties.
