Ukraine has secured the release of seven civilians held in Russian captivity since 2022. The individuals, captured during the occupation of regions including Mariupol, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk, were returned through humanitarian negotiations with Russian officials.

Over 5.7 million Ukrainians have been displaced abroad due to Russia’s full-scale invasion, with the total displaced since 2014 reaching 8.5 million. Ukraine’s Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, highlighted the need for sustained international temporary protection and raised concerns about the forced removal of Ukrainian children by foreign municipal authorities.

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported that 8.5 million Ukrainians have fled abroad since 2014, with 5.7 million departures occurring after the 2022 full-scale invasion. Lubinets urged international temporary protection statuses to continue until hostilities end and condemned illegal foreign adoptions of Ukrainian children.

Ukraine claims Russia has killed 707 children, injured 2,548, and left 2,318 missing since 2022. Dmytro Lubinets highlighted limited access to occupied territories as a reason for potentially higher numbers and urged the return of deported Ukrainian children.

Over 160 displaced Kursk residents have returned from Ukraine, according to Yana Lantratova. She stated her office is verifying the exact number still held in Ukraine and plans to meet Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Lubinets.
