A D.C. restaurant owner reported being ordered to dismantle her streatery despite pending permanent permit applications. The District Department of Transportation began enforcing stricter rules for permanent structures in June 2023 after temporary permit extensions expired, causing delays and fines for some operators. DDOT and the D.C. Department of Buildings claim the changes aim to improve safety and durability.
