- 2 killed in wrong-way crash in Lincoln County, troopers say
Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash on N.C. 16 Highway in Lincoln County when a pickup truck collided head-on with another vehicle. The drivers, Alejandro Gutierrez and Jamar Mishoe, died at the scene. Investigators suspect impairment may have contributed to the crash.
- Suspect arrested in 2008 ‘Sun Drop Murders’ case after almost 20 years
Johnny Steven Talbert was arrested in 2024 for the 2008 Sun Drop Murders in North Carolina, where he is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and robbery. The victims, Donna Barnhardt and Darrell Noles, were killed at a Sun Drop bottling facility in Concord. Talbert was arrested in Washington State after the case remained unsolved for nearly 18 years.
