- Pilsen Intersection Where Bride-To-Be Was Killed To Get Safety Improvements
City officials announced safety improvements, including pedestrian islands and curb bumpouts, on South Ashland Avenue in Pilsen following the hit-and-run death of Marcela Herrera, a 22-year-old bride-to-be. The upgrades, funded by the city and the 25th Ward office, aim to address community concerns after Herrera's fatal accident last July and ongoing reports of safety risks at the intersection.

Riley O'Neil, a planner for Chicago's Complete Streets program, was killed in a Bridgeport car crash after being struck by a vehicle following a door collision. He worked on redesigning streets to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
