Deputies shot an armed person who was experiencing a mental health episode in Moreno Valley on Friday. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies and a clinical therapist from the Community Behavioral Assessment Team responded to a home.

Riverside County deputies shot an individual in Moreno Valley after responding to a report of a mental health crisis on Villa Hermosa. During the encounter, authorities reported that the person believed to be experiencing the crisis left the home and pointed a gun at the deputies, prompting the shooting. The injured individual was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
