A Fort Benning soldier and his girlfriend face life in prison after a federal indictment alleges they starved their infant son and a family dog to death. The couple is also accused of lying to investigators and causing severe malnourishment to two other dogs.

A Dollar General store manager was shot and killed by a customer during a transaction, and the suspect was later killed after attacking police and a K-9. The injured officer is recovering, and the K-9 is in stable condition.
