Child pornography possession

A Plattsburgh man was arrested on May 11, 2026, for possession of child pornography following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary L. Favro determined the defendant poses a danger to the community and ordered his detention.

Samuel Sandoval Chavez, a Sureno gang member, was convicted by a federal jury in Del Rio of possessing child pornography and failure to appear in court. The conviction addresses serious federal crimes involving both criminal conduct and court non-compliance.
