U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seeking a 'turnkey' detention facility in South Florida to house at least 700 detainees near its Miami Field Office in Plantation. The July 10 request included housing, transportation, health, guard, and food services for male and female detainees with low, medium, and preferred high custody levels. Additional detention beds are required in Philadelphia, Seattle, and Denver.

A man was injured during a shootout in Miami Gardens after he attacked his ex-girlfriend and fired at two men who defended her. The attacker fled to a CVS and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a confrontation involving the victim's brother and an intervening man.
