- That time hundreds of gerbils and hamsters shut down a Michigan airport
On August 23, 1991, over 250 gerbils and hamsters being shipped to Capital Region International Airport in Michigan chewed their way out of their boxes. The rodents subsequently spread across the area, disrupting travel at the Lansing airport. Although many were captured by day's end, some remained believed to have made it into hiding spaces.
