- Alpine resorts' snowmaking equipment may be put to work fighting summer forest fires
As a response to climate change and receding glaciers, the Adelboden-Lenk resort plans to repurpose its extensive snowmaking infrastructure for fighting forest fires in summer. The system uses underground pipes and reservoirs that collect rainfall and melting snow, which can then be used by firefighters to create wet buffer areas against advancing flames.
