Russian universities are recruiting students to become drone pilots in the Russian military with promises of free tuition and up to $70,000, targeting gamers and students with technical skills. The recruitment effort is part of Russia's war efforts in Ukraine, with at least 270 academic institutions promoting military contracts. There has been at least one confirmed battlefield death among the new cadre of student drone pilots.
