A decision is pending on whether to proceed with direct land purchase in Ayyankuzhi for a Kerala waste management project. District administration sources noted that direct purchase would be faster than using the Land Acquisition Act.

Residents in Ayyankuzhi are reviving a protest over alleged non-payment of rent dues. The families had to vacate their homes after a fire at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited–Kochi Refinery campus in their neighborhood nearly a year ago.
