Attock

Over 4,000 police personnel will be deployed for security during the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections in Rawalpindi division on August 2. The elections for migrant seats include 175 polling stations across four constituencies, with strict security measures and categorization of stations as highly sensitive, sensitive, or normal.

Two people were killed and nine injured in Punjab due to rain-related incidents, including collapsing walls, roofs, and a billboard. Rescue teams responded to the incidents, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported significant rainfall across the region, with Mandi Bahauddin recording the highest at 23mm. A fresh monsoon spell is expected to continue in July.

Train services on the Attock–Mari Indus–Multan railway section were suspended after a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall blocked tracks in Attock's Jand tehsil, stranding passengers. Emergency teams cleared debris, restoring operations by Friday evening, while passengers reported shortages of water and unclear timelines for delays.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed five suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in Attock's Mankor area. A cache of weapons and explosives was recovered, and the militants were allegedly linked to planned terrorist attacks in Punjab. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the operation targeting Fitna al Khawarij, a term for Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
