PPP's Amjad Hussain is set to become Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, marking a shift from the Centre's political dominance. The PPP, with support from PML-N and IPP, aims to grant provisional provincial status to GB. The first session of the GB Assembly will elect key leadership roles.

PPP will form a government in Gilgit-Baltistan with support from PML-N, mirroring the federal power-sharing arrangement. The coalition includes a chief minister from PPP and a governor and opposition leader from PML-N, prioritizing political stability and democratic values.

Delegations from the PPP and PML-N met in Gilgit-Baltistan to discuss forming a government after the June 7 elections, where the PPP secured 11 seats and the PML-N six. The parties agreed to present proposals to their central leadership, with the PPP claiming a mandate as the largest party. Results consolidation is pending re-polling in five constituencies.

The PPP leads in 10 constituencies in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections, followed by PML-N in six and independents in five. PTI-backed independents and MWM candidates also hold leads, while PPP and PTI accuse officials of vote-rigging and delayed paperwork.
