Abdulsalami urged INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan and his team to remain steadfast and impartial ahead of the Osun polls and the 2027 general elections. He emphasized ignoring distractions and adhering to their oath of office.

Abdulsalami, who led the administration that promulgated the 1999 Constitution, is urging the government to amend or remove military decrees embedded in the document through democratic processes to ensure alignment with democratic principles. He described these provisions as having been 'smuggled' into the Constitution.

Abdulsalami stated that he handed over power due to demands from political leaders, civil society organisations, the international community, and ordinary Nigerians for a return to civilian government. He mentioned a democratically-elected government would occur within 11 months.

President Tinubu directed Wike to allocate land in Abuja to establish a resource centre for Abdulsalami. The proposed centre is described as a tribute to Abdulsalami's legacy in peace-building, democratic governance, national unity, and public service.

Obasanjo commended past military leaders, including Abdulsalami, for their roles in preserving national unity and guiding Nigeria through challenging transitions. He highlighted their contributions to navigating difficult periods in the country's history.
