- DOJ sues Colorado over in-state tuition for undocumented students
The U.S. Department of Justice under President Donald Trump is suing Colorado over state laws that provide in-state tuition and financial aid to undocumented students, arguing they violate a federal statute requiring equal treatment of U.S. citizens. Colorado's 2013 ASSET Act allows undocumented students who attended local schools or lived in the state to qualify for resident tuition and state aid, which the DOJ claims conflicts with federal law. Colorado's Democratic Senator John Hickenlooper criticized the lawsuit as an attack on education access for young immigrants.
