During the Aspen Acres Fire, Certified Deaf Interpreters and ASL Interpreters played a vital role in keeping information accessible to the Deaf community. Kevin Harrer and Christina Witczak worked together to interpret spoken English messages from incident command into American Sign Language (ASL) for clear communication. The interpreters advocate that having in-person sign language interpretation at every press conference is key to making messaging more inclusive.
