    Kimwolf DDoS Botnet Operator Arrested in Canada Over DDoS-for-Hire Attacks

    The U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of Jacob Butler, a 23-year-old from Ottawa, Canada, for operating the Kimwolf DDoS botnet used in DDoS-for-hire attacks.     Jacob Butler, a 23-year-old Canadian man also known as 'Dort', was arrested in Ottawa and faces extradition to the United States for allegedly running Kimwolf, a major DDoS botnet that hijacked over 2 million Android TV devices and launched more than 25,000 attacks. The botnet operation, which was part of a larger coordinated takedown in March involving multiple botnets that compromised three million devices combined, caused millions of dollars in damages and targeted Department of Defense networks.
