- Why tickets for sports events are left out of DC bill combating price gouging
The D.C. Council approved the RESALE Act to combat ticket price gouging by restricting bots and capping resales at 10% above face value for most live events, excluding sports tickets. The law, introduced by Council member Charles Allen, targets concerts and venues like the 9:30 Club but may revisit sports ticket regulation in the future. Mayor Muriel Bowser expressed concerns but is unlikely to veto the bill, which takes effect in 2027.
