Chagos Islands treaty is now ‘impossible to agree at political level’, UK minister says

A treaty to cede sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius faces political deadlock after the US withdrew support, according to UK Foreign Office minister Stephen Doughty. The bill for the agreement cannot proceed through parliament due to the changed stance of Donald Trump's administration.
