As states tighten oversight, private equity’s healthcare deals decline
A report from Pitchbook indicates that a wave of new state oversight laws is causing the number and value of private equity-involved healthcare deals to decline since last year. At least 25 states have proposed or passed legislation increasing oversight of healthcare transactions, making consolidation strategies harder for companies like private equity. These regulations are particularly affecting physician practice management, where deals are expected to decline by half this year compared with 2025.
