A hidden, neglected reservoir in Queens has been restored to its natural glory

Volunteers spent years clearing invasive species from the Ridgewood Reservoir, allowing it to be restored to a natural state where life is now blooming. Originally supplying drinking water to Brooklyn in the 1800s, officials now hope that the reservoir will act as a sponge to mitigate future flooding.
